For the fourth year in a row, Ravenscroft's student-led fundraising team for Crucial Catch has been recognized as the top fundraising school in the nation, exceeding their goal of $30,000 by more than $6,000, and once again winning the prestigious Pink Cleat Award.
Camp Ravens Nest
Now in its 44th year at Ravenscroft, Camp Ravens Nest offers children in rising Pre-K through 5th grade a meaningful, fun-filled, and safe summertime experience. Combining both a break from school routine with an opportunity to explore additional educational experiences, campers participate in a relaxed, yet closely supervised setting. All campers are served lunch in the school's dining facilities, have morning and afternoon snacks, and the Owls group has a daily rest time.
The program of activities builds on enhancements of the past several years; offering exposure to the arts through music, drama, art, and literature; crafts through activities in various media, building, and cooking; and physical activities through daily recreation, free play, and swimming. The varied schedule includes weekly themes, "special days", projects, and field trips, all of which are designed to develop the child's skills, and self-confidence and to broaden his or her horizons... plus have fun!

Concurrent Camps: Campers who are registered for Camp Ravens Nest can also be registered for other half camp programs on our campus. If you choose to register your child for a "concurrent" camp, then they can dropped off at Ravens Nest in the morning and Ravens Nest staff will escort them to/from their other camp, they can then be picked from Camp Ravens Nest. They will also be able to eat lunch in the Dining Hall with the other Ravens Nest campers. In addition, if you register your child for a "concurrent" camp, then the Ravens Nest fee will be discounted 30% for that week. Please Note: We don't discount the Ravens Nest fee 60% if your child is in two "concurrent" camps.
***Our registration system is not currently processing the concurrent discounts associated with Camp Ravens Nest properly. If you register for Camp Ravens Nest and a concurrent program, please contact Dan Ressner, Director of Auxiliary Services and Summer Programs, and he will process the concurrent discount for you manually.**
What to bring to Camp Ravens Nest: Please bring a backpack with a change of clothes daily. Optional Items for campers include a water bottle, water shoes or sandals for the pool/pool deck. Closed shoes are to be worn every day.

CLT Program: Our CLT program is for rising 8th grade to 12th grade students who are seeking volunteer hours. CLTs must turn in two recommendations to be considered. This is a popular program, with limited spots. This summer we will only be taking 15-20 students. Counselors 16 years or older can be paid.
Camp Ravens Nest is located in the Lower School 5th Grade Center. Campers will be divided into 3 groups; rising Pre-K - Kindergarten (Owls), rising first-second grades (Hawks), and rising third -fifth grades (Ravens).
Most campers arrive between 8:00 a.m.-8:45 a.m. and will meet in a common area, with groups separating after 9:00 a.m. Parents are to sign in upon arrival, sign out upon departure, and touch base with a staff member on a daily basis. Camp Ravens Nest will also use the Lower School playgrounds and gymnasium.
The Camp RavensNest director for summer 2024 is Whitneye McCoy. She has been working for Ravenscroft for eight years as the Assistant Director of Extended Day and four years as the Summer Programs Assistant Director. She has over a decade of experience working with children of all ages. Her camp experience includes Ravens Nest and YMCA. She has a masters degree in communication from Liberty University and a bachelors in English from NC State University.
RavensNest Co-Director will be Christina Frazier. She will be helping with our CLT program and supporting our campers through the summer. She is an eighth Grade English Language Arts Teacher. Parents may reach out to her, if they have questions and concerns. You will see Christina in the afternoons and Whitneye in the mornings.
Assistant Director for RavensNest will be Xander Carlson. He has been with Camp RavensNest for three years. He also has worked with our extended day program and TA'ed for Lower School. He is currently studying at Appalachian State University in their education department. He will be supporting our younger campers, and creating fun activities for our older campers.
The camp provides a minimum of one qualified staff member for every 12 children and supervision of groups will be by at least two qualified staff members at all times. The staff includes certified teachers, teacher assistants and student volunteers. All staff members are hired based on their strong desire to make a difference in each child's summer experience. In addition, Mr. Daniel Ressner, Summer Programs Director, provides general program oversight.
PLEASE NOTE: Camp policy requires that students be dropped off at Camp Ravens Nest no earlier than 7:45 am and picked up no later than 5:30 pm. If you need to pick up your child after 5;30 pm you will need to sign up for the Extended Hours option.
